I really did intend to post to this blog more while I'm in London. The only problem is that I'm keeping up three journals as well, so by the time I get to this, I really don't have anything else to say.
Yeah. Three journals. Isn't that ridiculous? I have one for me, which is basically just what I do every day, with random commentary. Then I have my BES journal, which is reflections on British culture, how we feel about it, etc. And then I have my internship journal, in which I write about what I did that week, and any significant cultural experiences I have while at my internship. So pretty much, I lose all motivation to write in this thing.
London is amazingly wonderful. It snowed here today, which shut down the airports and caused slightly less chaos than the last time it snowed. On the news last night they were commenting on how its a completely cultural thing -- it never snows significantly here, so when they do get an inch they don't have the capabilities to handle it. So different from home.
So since it snowed, I went on a walk in the snow. I went to Buckingham Palace and then through St. James's Park, which is, I think, one of my favorite areas in all of London. I love the park, and I like going by the palace. Today wasn't a changing of the guard day (I saw that last Thursday), but I did see two bright red carriages go by and then a bunch of soldiers on horesback.
That's what's so cool about living here. You never know when you're going to stumble on something. Like last Thursday, I didn't mean to go to the Changing of the Guard, I was just walking back from shopping on Oxford Street. And then, there it was. I'm sure if you live here for more than four months you don't appreciate all of the traditional, historical elements of life in London, but as a temporary resident, I absolutely love them.
