Hiya,

I posted a question here a few months back regarding travel from Britain to Ireland via ferry, in terms of ID needed.

In case anyone was wondering (not about me, but about the practicality of travel) I recently made the trip.

No one checked any identification before I boarded the ferry (at Holyhead), and when I got to Dublin, there was a man standing in the corridor who said "just tell me your nationality as you walk past."

When I de-boarded in Britain, I did have to show my passport.  I think all that was needed was some form of photo ID; although a few people didn't have any and were let through.  I guess they aren't so strict, or maybe just because it was a Friday.

Hope this can enlighten someone.
