The saga continues...

First of all:

1. I'm British, but have been schooled (K-16) in America and have, therefore, little experience in gauging this for myself.
2. I know they're both part of the Russell Group.
3. I have checked the Guardian already and know their rankings.
4. I know it's my decision, ultimately, but am trying to get a sense of this.

With that in mind:

I've been accepted to two MA in English Literature programmes (with the intention of converting into a PhD and becoming a professor) in the UK. One is in Scottish fiction/lit at the University of Warwick, and the other is in Welsh fiction in English at Cardiff University; either way, I'll be studying/writing about identity-hybridity, -conflict, and -negotiation between the country and "being British." I'm not set in stone to these topics, but I dare say I stated my intent and would hesitate to back out because they are relevant to my research interest.

Warwick is ranked 4th by the Guardian, and may be a "hotter" degree. I would be more interested in the Welsh one, however, and am far more keen to live in Cardiff. But, I'm afraid it'd be silly to pass up a highly ranked uni.

Thoughts? Advice? Warnings? Is the older one (Cardiff) better than the modern, higher-ranked one (Warwick) in general opinion, or vice versa? Which would you go to, if you were me? I'm open to owt you have to say really.

If there is a more appropriate place to post this re: studying in the UK, or UK academia, do let me know. Cheers.
