UK Fiance Visa

Hello all. A bit excited/nervous at the moment because my wonderful fiance (UK) and I (US) have just applied for a UK FIANCE VISA for me. :)

Now as I sit here worrying like I have never worried before...

Can anyone explain to me the process for AFTER you have submitted your application?

Mailed my application to the Chicago Consulate. It arrived Thursday (June 12) morning according to my confirmation receipt.

So what happens now?
Do they email to let me know they have my application or do they mail everything back and THEN start the process of deciding an answer?
