Moving companies

Hi all - I just posted an 'intro' the other day, but to recap, I'm getting married (in the US) and moving to the UK (to Scotland) in May/June, and I'd like to know if anyone has any recommendations for door-to-door moving companies. I've read back over a few pages of posts under this tag but only found one reference back a bit that linked to a site that had a new name (other than what was posted), so I thought I'd ask the question here in case anyone has recent experience with a good moving company.

(I apologize if I'm looking under the wrong tag, but it seemed the most appropriate.)

I have an inquiry in to a company called Sterling whose website looks great but whose response has been less-than-confidence-inspiring. Does anyone have any experience with them?

We need door-to-door because we'll be way up in the Highlands, with no way of going to whichever port my relatively few things would be shipped to, or getting them back up to our village by ourselves. I know such moving companies must exist - ones who know all the customs rules and will arrange delivery and pickup to and from ports (or arrange air freight). Sterling seems to promise this, but I'm just not confident since it took me two emails to even get a reply from them. I suspect I may not be "high end" enough for them, as I am only moving basic furniture and not a ton of other stuff. But what I've got, I'd like to take!!

Any suggestions/ideas/experiences would be greatly appreciated. Also any ideas about estimated costs. I'm moving a bed, two armchairs, an ottoman, a kitchen table, a small cabinet, small CD towers, a blanket chest, and then clothes, books, a few dishes, some glass shelves and a few framed pictures. And the usual little accumulated ornaments and photographs and things like linens/blankets and blah blah blah. Not a lot, but too much to ship piece by piece ahead of time!

Thanks for any advice or suggestions!
