April 30th Craig and I hiked Colvin and Blake mt, both high peaks of the Adirondack 46 peaks. The weather forecast was beautiful, the weather was sunny and the temp was about 60 in Keene Valley, we were able to interchange between short sleeves and jackets during the entire trip. The way up Colvin was a familiar trail, lake road to indian head, to fish hawk cliffs, and then off to Colvin. There was some snow, but not too much, and we met a nice group of hikers on our way up. The top of Colvin was beautiful, and Craig and I took our time to determine which mountains we could see from the summit. It was a small summit, with an additional look-out around on the other side of the peak. We were determined to do Blake so we continued. We were a little exhausted at this point, we had spikes on our boots but no snow shoes. It was a little to wet to use them anyway. It took over an hour to hike the .5 miles up blake and the view was poor. We reached this mountain at 2:30, we left the trailhead at 7:30, so it took 7 hours to get there. We quickly went back to Colvin and back to the car, we needed to make it back before the sun set. It only took us about 3.5 hours to get down the mountain. We were tired and quite determined.
