September's almost gone

We've had a busy September so far! Though things we have sort of made an annual event have not panned out for us.

Cole started preschool and he absolutely loves it. He asks just about every day if he gets to go to school today. The other day he came home with book orders and had a grand time choosing which ones he wanted to get. He chose a Super Mario video, some halloween books, some hot wheel books and I chose a Rememberance Day book for him. I've never seen one before and I think it's important they learn what November 11 is truly for.

We tried to do the Sussex balloon fiesta again this year. It would have been our 4th year in a row going. We convinced Mom and Marty to meet us down there and off we went. The weather seemed ok. We went around the midway, the kids went on some rides and we had our picnic and waited for the balloons to launch only to find that the wind wasn't right and there was a big rain storm rolling in. First time in 4 years we've gone and the balloons didn't go up. Major disappointment. But, there's always next year!

Then of course there's Harvest Jazz and Blues. Jeff and I were all geared up to go see Joel Plaskett and I was going to take the kids to see some of the free shows and we were going to see what else we could go so...but when Jeff was in line to get tickets, the lady ahead of him bought the last 2! Ah! I guess it was a good thing in the end since I ended up with the sinus/chest infection from hell on Monday and it lasted clear through to Friday. Even now I'm still hanging on to a nasty cough, but that's pretty typical. The cough and I will likely be buddies until Thanksgiving.

So in lieu of me finally feeling better, we opted to take the kids to the Huntsman aquarium in St Andrew's for their Meet the Lobsters event. They have a touch pool there and seals and some other exhibits. They got to see the seals being fed, see some different colored rare lobsters, have a treat, touch a whole bunch of sea critters, see some neat fish and play in a pretty awesome playground.

Next up: apple picking! And of course, Halloween and all the other fun fall festivities are just around the corner! Cole is already talking about Santa Clause and Jeff is raving about how easy it'll be to get the snowblower out of the garage. Geez!
