Yo Ho Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Me

May 24, 2007 03:54

Thanks to everyone who commented on my last entry. Frankly, all the responses I got was overwhelming (in a good way). After writing that giant of a post, I half-expected it to be disregarded and only receive a couple of comments. What a pleasant surprise to find otherwise. The tips are appreciated and as time progresses, I'm sure I will only need more advice. Anyways, 2008 is still eight months away, but I'll be sure to update everyone on my preparations and any questions I may have. And of course, when the semester finally comes, I definitely plan to blog about all my experiences. *dances with excitement*

Now onto other stuff:

I just got back from watching Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Hurray! One of the benefits of working in a movie theatre is that you get to see a private screening of highly anticipated films before everyone else. Anyways, it was a great movie...I'm not sure if it's as good as the first two, but I'll leave that for you guys to judge. Also, the ending is rather interesting...definitely not something I expected to happen. But I promise I won't spill. So here is the last of the Pirates films...while the ending is left open-ended, the filmmakers stated that they only planned to make three, so a fourth is doubtful, and if they ever did make one, it wouldn't be for a while. But do we really even need a fourth? Ehh...probably not.

So yeah, the first public showing will actually be tomorrow at 8pm. I work tomorrow evening, double shifts on Friday and Saturday, evening til close on Sunday, and the middle shift (which is longer than a normal shift, but shorter than double) on Monday, which is Memorial Day. So that's about 40 hours of work in five days (my total for the week will be 54). And that is on our 2nd busiest weekend of the summer season (the first will probably be Harry Potter). I don't think I've ever worked that much in my entire life. I'm not complaining since I need the money and all...but it'll be a new (and interesting) experience. Oh, and also...on the 31st, I leave for Georgia to see my sister's graduation. Somewhere between now and then, I have to find time to pack between my working hours. Eek. It's going to be crazy.

And now I need to talk about Lost, because the season finale was rather a traumatic experience for me:

Why did Charlie have to die?! He could've easily escaped. And Dom was the reason I started watching the show...I'm not sure what I'm going to do without him. *sniffle*

And about the ending...it was a flash forward!!! And for the entire episode, I was pissed off about (what I thought to be) the flashbacks because Jack was using a Motorola razor phone. The plane crashed in 2004, so I kept screaming at the TV that razor phones didn't even exist back then. And then at the very end, I realise the filmmakers hadn't made a mistake after all...lol. Anyways, I heard that the show isn't starting up again until January, and if that's true, I'm not going to be very happy. I wonder if you can get the episodes off iTunes from Europe, or else I'll just make my parents tape it.

Of course, television will be the least of my concerns while I'm in the Netherlands. Though I am curious to watch some there. One of my professors is Irish and told the class that the reception in Europe is so much better (it has to do with the number of lines that make up the picture...err, it's too complicated to explain), but I'd like to see for myself. Plus, after checking out veryfunnyads.com, I decided European commercials are so much better than American ones.

As for my mood, bad feelings are gone...for now at least. It's funny how these things can just come and go like that. They always do. I think it partially helps that I got a short break from work, so I'm not so exhausted. Heh...we'll see how my mood is after next week. I can't help feeling down and depressed every once and awhile...it's just something to me and my emotional self. But I find the best solution is to distract myself with something happy and exciting and wonderful. And right now, as you can see, it is my semester in Europe. :)

Yikes, it's almost 5am! Time to go to bed...

pirates, tv, work, lost
