My friends, I bring you bad pr0n

Feb 24, 2010 23:31

So, there's this massive wank involving an incredibly polite (as in more polite than I could ever be in this instance) reviewer on GoodReads and the incredible douchewaffle of a vanity press author going batshit because of it.

But none of that is relevant, oh no.

Because I bring you, courtesy of weepingcock, the best damn bad pr0n I've ever read. Be warned ( Read more... )

rant: pro-authors, rant: writing and stuff

It really is rather scary, isn't it? But at the same time, freakin' hilarious. It does kinda give me hope in a strange, sad way, though. If something that terrible can actually get published, I've gotta have a shot, right?

Hun, I thought exactly the same thing when I read Twilight, LOL.

I highly doubt that anyone has published this person's book in the traditional sense, though. I think it's more than likely self-published, which means she's paid someone to publish it for her, not the other way around. Anyone can get anything self-published, as long as they are happy to pay the fee.

There's no way a professional publisher would pick that story up, if all of it is like the excerpts I read, because I can't see writing that bad getting past an editor. However, if Stephanie Meyer's passive, overly-florid prose can do it, there's hope for both of us!

LOL!!! That's truly awful. I think the sexiest line is "He banged her until he came". My! Such poetic eroticism!

IIRC from the FW entry, Ms. Malone is a published author in the "self-published' sense.

I like the line about how he pushed farther inside without moving, because damn, that takes some talent right there.

There are links you can follow to the cover art and the full story. I was brave enough to look at the cover, but when I saw the horrible cut-and-paste job, I just couldn't go any further.

Yes, I judged a book by it's cover! Don't you judge me! :P

I have got to bookmark that Swedish Chef translator. That will make so many badfics so much more bearable. :)
