While I am happy I got it and think it will get better...my first day was weird. So far there don't seem to be any plans set for this new department. There are goals but there does not seem to be a plan to reach them yet.
I'm not used to this blank canvas approach and it is making my a bit nuts. In my old job you just sorta...worked. Working your way through the endless lines at the desk, crazy ammounts of phonecalls and all that. My first day consisted of talking. When I said; okay lets get to business. How are we going to do this? Aparently, that was moving too fast.
Hopefully in the next week we can at the freaking least get some kind of plan going. Maybe it's because the other two new people are new to the hospital and in one case to hospital as an organisation. I might just give her a tour if she hasn't had one by the time we talk again. I was going to read the ISO and all the other standards, but I'm now taking it all to work with me. I don't want people to lead my by the hand, but I do need some direction.
If that doesn't happen or form itself next week, I'm going to have to ask for some guidance as to what the expectation is here. I'm fine sitting there reading, but wouldn't it be better if we got together and made a plan? Set some deadlines?
It's probably just that I'm not used to this type of job but I hope it gets better. I can't deal with an empty dateplanner. I just can't do that.
