Should I be in bed right now?

Am I updating my LJ? Then of course the answer is yes!

I have a problem, and that problem is my PS3 is a ticking time bomb. It could die again at any moment, thus I am refraining from playing it until I can replace. Still need a job though. I put the PSOne classics I had downloaded onto my PSP and started playing more PC games, so I don't think it will be too much of a problem...although I did play Solitare on the Vista machine for 4 hours one day...my high score is 6600~ I think. Jobs though, I've applied for some recently that are really easy, ones I should get on basic principle, so hopefully I'll get a call soon and some money, even if it's not as much as I'd like to be getting. Enough of that noise.

I'm going to KC tomorrow...today...in 8 hours, so I can hang out for a few days, and then drive to St. Louis for Michelle's wedding. I'll be picking up Cody in Columbia...or he'll be picking me up...whichever, so that'll be cool to be able to catch up with him. My friends have been bugging me about when I'll be getting in since last week, which isn't like them, usually they're just like, "whatever, cool," and that's it. Granted I do bring the "fun", haha. I tried to make a flight earlier tonight, but I'm flying stand-by and got flight-cock-blocked by the Jay-Hawk basketball team. So hopefully I'll get lucky in the morning.

A few months ago I decided to start using StumbleUpon, this was probably a mistake, but occasionally I find it brings me stuff that I had seen, but forgot to follow-up on. Case in point the webcomic Dresden Codak! I forget how I found this before, it's in someone's sig on the anime club forum, but I think it was an SA thread that lead me directly to it. It's a really good read, especially if you like science and robots and dream-like stuff. Takes forever for it to update, but hey, I've been reading SGVY since before it was in color (or shortly after it went to color)!

One of the games I've been playing a lot of is called Minecraft. I may have mentioned it a few times before in other places, maybe not here. Basically just a giant sandbox game in a very literal sense, with all block pieces. It's really cool just to mess around in the creative modes and on the servers, but I bought it back in September when I actually still had money. If you buy now while the game is in pre-alpha, it's half off what it will be, and you get all the updates/expansions/etc free. Also, it's all being done by one guy by the name of Notch. Here's a gallery of stuff people have made in creative mode. If you want to try it out here's the wiki to get you started. If you do buy it, then you can play the indev mode (in development) or infdev, which is the infinite maps mode that's in development currently. The first mode has crafting and survival elements in-between mining and building (you have to collect your materials here).

Now here's what I've been doing with it. On SomethingAwful we started a Let's Play Succession thread where we take turns with a save, and then pass it off to the next person. I was third on the Moonrise Team. There are links in the OP to the updates, or you can just scroll through the pages until you hit pictures. This gives a fairly good example of what the game is and where it will be going, as does the main thread. I made a video on youtube showing the manor I built during my turn, and someone commented saying I should start a new save and show that, so I did. I currently have 7 in a half videos up of that, here's the playlist. The really weird thing to me is I now have 6 subscribers because of this o_O. The first video and the first couple in the playlist didn't have in-game sound because I hadn't messed with fraps enough. I eventually realized it was a Windows problem and fixed it. The first video has classical musical I like, and the others have music by the same guy doing the music for Minecraft.

His name is C418, he makes German Electronica, which is free to download in many formats. I unfortunately had to convert them into .wma's because Windows Movie Maker was being finicky. Anyway that's some really good stuff, and I'm currently listening to the Gorillaz new album, which is really, really good. My friends don't like Superfast Jellyfish for some reason, which sucks for them because it's a single and will probably be on the radio a lot. I also learned recently that the Gorillaz's guitar player, Noodle, is a girl. Granted this is probably because I only watched a few of their music videos, but it's really obvious if you watch the one for Dare. Ah well, live and learn. Now normally I don't care that much about American Idol, but Siobhan's performance the other night of Paint it Black was really freaking awesome. Although I am a little disappointed that no one did my favorite Rolling Stones song, Sympathy for the Devil, although I could see that not yielding much "Sympathy for the Contestant" from America perhaps, at least not from the Bible Belt :p
