Today sucked.
Valentine's Day and I haven't ever really gotten along in the past. But this time I was super alone. I'm done in Texas, no friends down here, no girlfriend ever. My mom is back up there for work, my dad stuck down here with a bad back. Have to take him to a doctor to get a shot in his back (or was it his spine?) in less than 4 hours from now. I don't really feel bad about the loneliness thing, I just recognize that it sucks that I am alone and that all my friends are at least 9 hours away. Well except Dave, a TKE alum, but he's an older alum, from the first pledge class at Truman actually. I'll probably invite him and his wife over for dinner once we get the house sorted out here, but really that's it.
Job market is better down here, as in there are more jobs, but there's also more jobs asking for more experience. Up in KC I could've had a job with just 3 years experience no problem. No there's a lot asking for 5-7, or even 10+ down here. Just gonna have to look harder, especially since my graphics card is going out on my PS3 and I need to get a new one to transfer everything over to it. I'm trying to not use it at all since after only an hour it starts to overheat and shows graphical artifacting and poling. I don't think the chip is damaged yet, but it very well could be. I don't really want to take it apart and try to fix it, since that would only be temporary, so I'm gonna try and keep my gaming habits restricted to PC, Mac, and my handhelds until I can replace it. This really sucks, but not as bad as not having anywhere to go on a Friday or Saturday night. Bleh.
Pics of the move and new house will be up soonish. Maybe tomorrow, or more unpacking will happen then. I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this since not everyone interested in said pics use all of the same sites. I'll probably just have to post them a few times or something. Maybe set up a thing on my site or turn it into a video and embed the youtube clip in various places. I found my Internet Programming book the last time I unpacked a bunch of stuff, so maybe I'll screw around with Javascript or AJAX or something.
I should get to bed. I don't have any video game recommendations, but I have been looking at the news regarding FF13, Heavy Rain, and Red Dead Redemption with a lot of anticipation. FF13 had me a little disappointed earlier with some news regarding the removal of some key components and some various other things, but I heard about the battle system and how the later half of the game opens up a bit more and I think it could work out just fine. I played the Heavy Rain demo, and I get the feeling that it will be a real love it or hate it kind of thing, but I like where it's going, and it's been a while since I've seen a game come out with 30~ endings. I didn't think much of Red Dead Revolver until I saw some stuff for its sequel Redemption. My friend had recently got the first game so I had been playing it over at his place the last month or so, managed to beat it a week and a half ago. It was alright, had some pretty big flaws here and there, but it was fun. Redemption seems to take every problem I had with the first game and fix it. Rockstar is also making a game called L.A. Noire that is sounding like it will be really awesome too, but I get the feeling it might fall short of its claims. The idea of a detective game where you have to play it like you would if you were solving a real life crime is intriguing, but they say you can interact with most any object, and it won't highlight the objects like most games. This sounds like a neat concept to me, but I wonder if it will work well in practice, might be too hard for some people. By the time it comes out it will probably have heap of game UI all over it and not be as immersive and deep as it would seem to be right now.
