The craziness I have to deal with now

Jan 17, 2010 21:33

I can't really think up a good subject line for some reason. Sorry.

Anyway the deal on the house closes on Wednesday, the movers come to our house on Thursday and pack everything for us, and on Friday they move all the stuff that's going with us out of the house and put it in a storage unit until the house down in Fort Worth is down. So no packing on our part, they inventory everything they pack, and insure it, so no packing. This is weird, because now I have to either say, "screw the insurance," or unpack all my stuff o_O...I'm probably just going to unpack most of it tomorrow and/or get all the trash and unwanted stuff together for trash pick-up on Tuesday. Then I have to pack everything I don't want to chance them losing (electronics), and keep that with me. At one point I have to move into my grandpa's empty house with the dogs, and chances are I'll be by myself, except my parent's and my aunt will have keys to the place, and she'll probably check on me everyday to make sure I'm not stealing anything, because that's her job dammit. We're pretty sure she's taken everything of value, or at least everything that anyone else showed an interest in having. We don't like her very much anymore.

I'll probably go over there on Wednesday or Thursday, not too sure. My friend was supposed to stay there with me, but he won't, at least not for more than a few hours, and I'm pretty sure he just wants to look through records and some other stuff. Oh, it's probably worth mentioning that my grandpa was a pack rat and there is a lot of stuff to go through at his house. There are probably 2 dozen sets of golf clubs in the garage...I'll probably have a lot of pictures later. That'll be fun. I'm a little worried cause there's a mold problem in the basement, and the whole house smells off, and I'm not sure if the water works. Not sure what I'll do for food either, I think the fridge works, but it might not. I wonder if there's still a working tv there that I could use for video games...mine's too damn heavy for me to want to bother with it.

Anyway, I'm stuck there for an undeterminable amount of time, because it got too cold in Texas for them to install some tiles somewhere in that house because they put it off until the last minute and then there was that cold snap nationwide and I dislike them. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 to 3 weeks. I need to get someone else to stay with me there because I've been freaked out lately for no good reason due to the stuff in the following Lj-cut. The house is near the woods, and it's been foggy here the last few days, and if that keeps up, I'll be thoroughly freaked out. Oh, and there are like no windows you can see out of in that house, they're all either tinted or foggy or covered by like 3 layers of curtains.

So I was reading some threads on the SomethingAwful forums, and I came across one about a creepy ARG (alternate reality game) and was reading up on it and watching the videos related to it. It was mentioned earlier on that the main premise was thought up in a thread called "Create Paranormal Images" where people would photoshop images to have a ghost or creature in them, something paranormal. These would be accompanied by backstories sometimes. Well this one guy created a creature called Slender Man. Here are that user's posts in that thread. The story starts to come together fairly slowly at first, and a bunch of other people made their own images and additions to the story.

Essentially it's a creature that looks like a really tall man in a business suit that has extra appendages coming out of arms or back. His description varies heavily, and it is theorized that it can shape shift. The popular motive of SM (Slender Man) is that he wants to kill people and eat their organs, but that can vary too it would seem. It got awesome, and creepier, when someone started making videos of it in this ARG like fashion. It's called Marble Hornets. That's the SA thread for it, here's the introduction video, and here's the youtube user page for it. And here's a youtube user page for the entity that replies to the Marble Hornets videos known as totheark. The videos are fairly short, I think the longest is still under 7 minutes, some are under 1 minute or just over. The reply videos are generally under a minute. I'd recommend just watching the first set in order and look out for replies from totheark under the videos so it makes more linear sense that way. Also here's Marble Hornet's twitter page, you could just start at the bottom of that and work your way up too, that could work well since he links the replies in order.

Basically a guy named Alex was making a student film called Marble Hornets, and he started seeing SM and other weird stuff. He recorded all of his actions and eventually freaked out and transferred schools and left the tapes to the guy that's uploading the videos now, Jay. Jay is now trying to find Alex but a lot the same stuff is happening to him plus some other creepy stuff, and yeah, it's all fake, but it's still entertaining and the idea of it all freaks me out still.

I also had Chinese for dinner tonight. This was my fortune:

So yeah. I know that's all fake, but they idea of it is really freaky to me.

In all likelihood I'll be off the grid for a good chunk of this time unless there's an open wireless router in the neighborhood, but it's mostly elderly people that live there, so maybe no net anywhere, but if there is wireless, it's probably open...hopefully.

My PS3 has been acting up a little bit more. The graphical glitch that happened in that one game happened in another. It's still a fairly small result, but it's still worrisome. I think if the graphics chip goes out I will still be able to play PS2 games on it (different chipset) and do other things, so hopefully if that does happen it will still be functional enough to do a transfer with a new one. Been playing a lot of Ratchet and Clank too, no graphics problems with it. This is awesome though:

You can't see it, but his right ear is pierced. It just seems hilarious to me playing through like this.
