I'm a knittin' MACHINE. Wait--no, I am not.

Every now and then, I look into buying a knitting machine--and then, seeing that even the most basic kind that can't do any fancy stitches is $500 (one that you can use computer software with to make cool patterns? A cool $1500), I quickly look back out of it. But it would be a good thing for me probably, since I really prefer stockinette stitch (the most basic kind, that those basic machines can do), knit most of what I knit in it, and even prefer boxy shapes for my sweaters, so I wouldn't have to do any fancy shaping! Although I DO kind of like the hand-knit look, where everything isn't so perfect and even. But I do often think of a knitting machine, because I'm the world's SLOWEST KNITTER! I'm determined to now finish the sweater I started ten years ago:

Al-most--there!

Part of it is that I only like to knit at this time of year, when the days are getting shorter and there's a chill that's nice for having a big length of wool over your lap. (Knitting in the summer can be prohibitive for this reason.) Part of it is that I like the idea of knitting better than I like the act of it. Also, this particular sweater is going to be pretty scratchy, alas. It's made from wool hand spun by my sister (!), which is so so cool, but yeah, scratchy. Hopefully nice and warm, though! I'm going to try to use every skein on this project and make it as long as possible; I love a good long sweater. LOOK OUT SWEATER. I'M COMIN FOR YOU.
