What the *bleep* is up with these "Once this ad ends you will be returned to your livejournal experience" crap!?

Has anyone else run into these!?  You go to read a friends journal or something and one of these things pops up, takes over the whole page, and starts spattering noise through your speakers.  It makes me want to punch my computer.  In the

Its sad that they're so intrusive. Especially since most studies I've seen have said that for the most part ads on the internet are negligably effective.

They started with them a couple weeks ago :/ Maybe folks with paid accounts don't see them?

This makes dreamwidth look more shiny and tempting!

Maybe, that would certainly be incentive to do something. Don't know if it'd be to pay or leave though...

I have seen them on peoples journals who are paid accounts which seems off to me.

I suspect their existence is based on if you (the reader) has a paid account or not.

I don't get them, but I've never upgraded from the super basic account. If you stick with the free account that only lets you have five icons (rather than the ad-upgraded 15) maybe they'll go away?

Nah, thats the account I have too. Whats weird is I've seen them on peoples pages that are paid accounts, free accounts, I don't know what the correlating theme is yet at all!

Probably you will. I see them every half-dozen times I click on "view comments" or so. And occasionally when I log in.

I pretty much just leave lj on so I only see them at random. That would be really really annoying to see every log in. :[

(We should! I may be somewhat limited around Christmas though I'm potentially booked solid with pets for a few weeks there. Kind of thinking of taking a few weeks later in Jan. or something and calling it my holiday...)

I just wait until the x appears and click them away, but they are deeply irritating, and yes I haven't found out yet what any of them advertise.

They are very good at making those x's ridiculously tiny. Maybe they'll get ditched soon. Hopefully.
