It's December? How is it December? Holy mother of God and all her wacky nephews. I freaking love December, not least because it's such a great time for fandom.

By the way, you should
sign up for
fandom_socking. It's fun, low-pressure, and you're guaranteed to come out of it with something cool.
And now, the yearly wish list meme!
Them's the rules
Step One:
Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered ... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love an icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two:
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just ... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
For this Christmastide, I'd love:
* Fic-related icons or art! I'd love covers for any of my stories, or icons of my favorite pairs, or illustrations of anything, really.
* Music! I listen to lyric-less music at work and when I write, so I'd love mixes, recommendations, iTunes gift certificates, or anything else music-related.
* Podfic! I've recently discovered the joys of listening to podfic during my commute. You hereby have permission to podfic any story of mine. I'm also looking for podfic recs; long stuff is especially great, as getting to hear that next part of the story makes me actually look forward to standing outside in the cold waiting for the train.
* Stories! I love fic. I'd be overjoyed if you wanted to write something for me. If you'd like an idea of the sort of things I enjoy, you could see
my fandom stocking post.
* Stories again! I'd love recommendations for dark, angsty stuff, especially if it hits any of the above-mentioned kinks.
* Writing notebooks! I do most of my writing on the train, so it's great to have a notebook to pull out of my purse when inspiration strikes.
* Luck and courage. After nearly a decade of planning and plotting, I'm applying to graduate school for next fall. The programs I'm going for are really highly competitive, and it's freaking me out a bit. I'm trying to finish all my applications by January 1st. If you have good energy or words of encouragement to send my way on that front, I'll need all I can get!
* To love you, baby. Link me to your list! Or if you're doing
fandom_stocking, link me to your stocking! Please, really, don't be shy. Post the link to your list in the comments, so I can see what would brighten your holiday!
Also, since my birthday's in January, I consider this month and that to be a continuous holiday period. If you're interested in mailing me something, send me a message for contact info. Or if you're trying to surprise me, I bet
jaune_chat could help facilitate something.
