Half a smile and zero shame

When my brothers learned that my parents and I wanted to take them to a Chinese restaurant, they groaned. "I'm not fond of Chinese food," Brother 1 huffed; while Fritz muttered, "I'm really not in the mood for Chinese today."

Later through the meal, however, they changed their tunes. "This is now my favorite Chinese restaurant ever," Fritz said. Brother 1 went for the far more obscene, "I had an orgasm."

"Now you know what all the fuss is about," I said triumphantly, but my parents' Feng Shui consultant takes the credit for the restaurant recommendation. My aunt actually found that Feng Shui consultant while lost, looking for radish cake, in Chinatown. So, uh...what goes around comes around. Or something.

Now I really want to take Aunt N and Tito B there, because there is no decent Chinese food in the U.S. I'm sorry, but it's the truth.

These noodles came first, and were obliterated by my family in mere seconds.

A fluffy bun that we call siopao (I will always love meat in pastry), and steamed dimsum we call siomai

I had to have a congee breakfast, this one with meatballs

Brother 1 had his with sliced beef

My dad had this Filipino-Chinese noodle soup called mami

Fried wanton. If it's fried, it must be good

Radish cake in the background, spring rolls in the foreground

Okay, this didn't come from the Chinese restaurant, but we picked up a chocolate cake on the way home. Chocolate cake is always good. Just because.

My food tripping didn't stop there, as Myra treated us for birthday lunch; for which I immensely thank and love her. =) If you want the food pr0n pics from those places (and they're much better than I ever could), head on to my favorite food blog or Spot.ph for the Zao entries, and this wonderful dessert display at Chelsea.

I'm still debating on whether to get a Jordi Labanda bikini (yes, I don't swim, but they're adorable) or an Ateneo jacket from Adidas as my little "Yay, you just got a credit card!" treat. My dad made my mom and I buy one for Fritz today, because he'd been begging for one since last year. Hey! I'm the actual Atenean; I should be entitled to one!

And while I do want that iPhone, I don't really want it badly, as much as I had wanted a MacBook Pro, or even my first iPod. I wanted both of them so badly that they actually hurt me, you know? As for the iPhone, I'm mostly "meh" about it.

But you probably couldn't tell that, from the way I keep blabbing about it.

Want: A steel acoustic guitar from my parents for Christmas
Need: To wipe Tay-Tay clean of fingerprints and smudges with the iKlear samples that Therese gave me
Love: John Mayer, "In Your Atmosphere". Even if it is allegedly the song about Jennifer Love Hewitt. (It never was "Your Body Is a Wonderland", because that song waaaaay predated JLH.)
Hate: That I have to switch to that modified open E tuning if I want to play "In Your Atmosphere" or "Something's Missing"
