Things That Won't Get You Out of the City

  • Balancing on six feet of couch cushions
  • Following crazy advice from crazy cursed people (finding a pattern here?)
  • Jumping into the fountain when it's beer
  • --- wait, what??

Dear Santa,

Things I Want for Christmas

The fountain...is beer?

"Curses" sound so scary. This "dear Santa" thing seems pretty fun. I was expecting something nastier.

Oh, the water likes to turn into random things at times. Or it turns anyone who drinks it into random things. It's become beer quite a few times as well.

The curses have been pleasantly mild lately. Not a jinx.

And people still drink it?

Let's hope they stay that way. I just got here. I need some time to adjust.

Apparently so. I tend not to go anywhere near the stuff myself, but sometimes it gets into all the liquid in the city. Like the time drinking anything had us bouncing off the walls.

December was relatively mild last year, so you may be in luck! Just be careful around midnight?

I guess there's no escaping some of them.

Midnight? Oh, is that when they start?

Unfortunately that seems the case. We all get hit with something, sometime.

Usually they start at midnight. We've had the odd curse start at dawn or dusk to play with our heads, however. You may also want to be close to your apartment at the time, if not exactly in it.

It doesn't sound like being in your apartment will protect you from some of these.

No, but there was this curse last December where you had to kiss anyone you passed while near this plant that started growing all over the place. Which was not the best of times to be caught shopping halfway across the city ah ha ha...

That sounds more funny than dangerous.

Yeah, like I said, pretty mild last December. Although still not the best of times to be randomly wandering around the city. There's also the periodic zombie invasion.

Hahaha, zombies, huh?

...That wasn't a joke?

No, the water was turning people into zombies at one point. And we have people in the city who can raise zombies. Not to mention the zombie curses.

...

So the guide was serious when it talked about things like vampires and angels, eh?

That's right. We've got quite a few of those around the place. Enough to have its own dedicated vampire bar.

This place doesn't have any rules other than "curses happen" and "you can't get out," does it?

No, no rule that can't be broken. Including that last one. I suppose saying the impossible can be possible here sums it up nicely.
