[Maes' back is to the PCD as he kneels on the ground, carefully putting children's books away on a small shelf. A rather large stack of books rests in the crook of one elbow. He's singing very quietly, a lullabye. The top shelf is only half-full and the books keep trying to tip. Maes has nearly finished filling it when he puts several in too

The last I recall back home I was in Resembool though, after Ed left and went to meet up with Hohenheim and deal with that bearded Father person to stop the Promised Day.

They...they had said "be a good girl, and we'll be back soon". But they weren't. I....never blamed them. How could I? I never felt betrayed, more....upset. They did what they felt was right. What they had to. They were so brave, helping everyone, Amestrian or Ishbalan. I couldn't feel betrayed when they did so much, saved so many lives. They were dedicated to their patients. I can't blame them for that. Even if....it meant losing their own lives, at the hands of a patient they helped save.
