I took today off to sew. Because I know myself, and I knew I wouldn’t be done with my projects for EMMA (and I’m not). So here's my to do list, and I'll be updating as we go along today. Departure time from Frogholm is approximately 5:00 p.m. Departure time from NH for NY (overnight stopover) is approximately 6:00 p.m.
10:00 a.m. status
Done on bedding - Pattern, cut, and sew a linen pallet (same size as sleeping bag).
Done on new gown - Bodice is assembled. I've finished the handwork on trim on the bodice and sewn the lining into the bodice. Skirt is assembled, and has two stripes (guards).
12:30 - break for lunch
Pull out linen bedding (pillowcase, sheet) from storage.
Turn and press bodice.
I wasn't going to finish the bottom edge of the bodice, but then I looked at it and the linen lining started fraying, just to spite me. *stitch stitch stitch* Take that!
Gather and pin skirt into bodice. Done!
90% of my gear is pulled out and staged on the bed, ready to pack (confirmed against packing list). The two things that I haven't found yet aren't critical, and I think I know where they are anyway. I'll dig them out after lunch.
1:30
Skirt attached to bodice. Commencing picking out stitches to remove gather tape.
2:45 - Five minute break to get a drink.
Gather tape removed. Commencing sleeves.
ETA - Hee! Just discovered a set of sleeves already cut out in the same envelope as my pattern pieces. However, they are a bit complicated, so I will pack them to work on on the road. I'll make a quick and dirty pair for this event, then swap out the sleeves. Also, found my previous sleeve pattern. Yay! So glad I organized the sewing room over the winter.
5:30
Pattern and cut sleeves. (shortcut - use old sleeve pattern, make fancy set of sleeves later)
Sew sleeves together.
Sleeves sewn onto gown.
Pin and sew on a third stripe (can finish in the car)
PACKED
STILL TO DO (on the road)
Cut down dog beds and stuff pallet, sew shut (When I get to NY tonight)
Finishing handwork on sleeves (lining, cuffs).
Pin hem (can finish in the car).
Sew lacing rings into the bodice (handwork).
Mend armpit on chemise. (in car)
AND SHE'S OFF! *zoom*
