I haz a sad - Higgins Armory

My morning radio station just announced on the news that the Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester is closing their doors in December. The armor collection is going to go to the Worcester Art Museum

I just read that on Facebook. I am really bummed, and sad for the people who work there :(. And I hate going to the WAM because their security staff suck juicy dirty cock (yes I said that aloud) and they make viewing art an uncomfortable experience. :(

I've never been to the WAM. I'm sad to hear that their security staff are pricks. I've had my run-ins with bad museum guards at the MFA and at the Isabella Stewart Gardner museums. =(

I was sad to read that too. We're too far away to be able to make a trip with Paul. Gremlin was ticked that they are closing, especially since she did not get to see the updates they made to the children's areas.

I remember seven/eight years ago talking to folks on the board and once I heard they'd dipped into the endowment, that was the death knell. Also, Kent was a good money-making director and when he went to the Russian Icons, I suspect his favorite donors did as well. :(

The people who worked at the Higgins were awesome; no uncomfortable stares, ever! And I've gone many many times over the years since it is so close...
