http://libwww.freelibrary.org/closing/ We deeply regret to inform you that without the necessary budgetary legislation by the State Legislature in Harrisburg, the City of Philadelphia will not have the funds to operate our neighborhood branch libraries, regional libraries, or the Parkway Central Library after October 2, 2009.

You can contact your state representative and explain the importance of passing a budget to keep the Philadelphia libraries open for public use. All the information you need can be found on the Free Library Web site.
Of course, libraries aren't the only organizations that will suffer without funding. The police force and firefighting operations will be cut back, trash pickup will happen less often and recreation centers will also close. As a resident of the city, I cannot even begin to express how angry and frightened this has made me.
THIS IS NOT COOL, GUYS.
