Meet The Parents: Day 6, Part 2

Apr 25, 2006 08:33

So I get home around 6:00 PM and...no one is home. Ah blessed peace. So for the next five hours, I do some contractor work, chat online, and watch some more House (which is totally, totally awesome). Around 11:00 PM, Leticia and her folks arrive, and she looks drained. I can understand why, having spent that much time with them. As soon as they get home they begin preparing our living room for themselves to sleep in. We have a spare single bed and box spring, so her dad uses that while her mom sleeps on the futon thing.

After they come home, Leticia tells me some funny stories. Our treadmill, for some reason, has a remote control, but it responds to normal remotes as well for some reason. Since we have it in front of the TV, this sometimes can cause problems. Apparently while Leticia was trying to run on the treadmill, her dad kept turning it off by repeatedly changing the channel. This didn't deter him at all, and he kept doing it, because he really doesn't care. ;)

Then she tells me they just kind of sat still in the rehearsal space for 3-4 hours, silently watching. However, when they get home, her mother goes into a tirade because she can't open our blinds properly. Why she would want to open our blinds at 11 PM at night is a mystery to me, but she gets it done. Leticia and I comment on how funny it is that, in front of other people they're quiet and sedate. In front of us they're loud and angry. It's kind of humorous indeed.

At this point I shut down my computer and head off to bed. More to come I'm sure.
