My favorite lieder? Schubert -'Gretchen am Spinnrade' (Gretchen at the Spinning Wheel) -'Der Wanderer' (from the cycle 'Schwanegesang') -'Der Tod und das Menschen' (Death and the Maiden...the theme of this lied was transformed into a Theme and Variations movement - his late D minor string quartet) -'Viola' -'Ave Maria' -'In der Nacht' - the cycle 'Winterreise' ('Winter's Journey'...about a man who was exiled from his village, wanders about the frozen landscape...to die there) -'Pilgerweise'
Schumann -'In der Fremde' and 'Mondnacht' from 'liederkreis', op.39 -'In Wunderschonen Monat Mai' from 'Dichterliebe' op.48 -'Widmung' (which I, believe, is not part of a cycle)
Beethoven -'An die ferne gelibte' ('To a distant beloved'...a wonderful cycle written by the more personal Beethoven of later years)
I can put online any that you are interested in, since it's easy for me (MIT gives me a www, so I can just put stuff up there at a whim).
If you want to email them, you can. The best bet is to email to my gmail account since I have tons of storage space on there - it's sonata959@gmail.com
