Whew...
I have finally caught up after two weeks of a cold and one more week and a half of swimming with my head barely above water trying to finish all of the projects and work things I couldn't finish when I was sick.
In this massively stressful time, a thought struck me. There are people who call and people who wait for a call. Now I'm not about to go off on some lengthy treatise about those who don't call (even when they know I'm feeling like shit).
As long as I don't have to hear "Why haven't you called?" as if life and the universe revolved around them, I have no issue with those waiting until I'm on the mend to hear from me. I just cannot tolerate any accusation of inattentiveness when (((I WAS THE ONE NOT FEELING WELL!))) Sick people should be attended to. Sick people should not have to attend to those who aren't sick. Sounds logical to me.
No, Journal, I have no diatribe in me. I do want to take a moment and reflect on those who did call. When I was growing up, my Mother's health wasn't in the best of shape. But despite her practice in the world's kookiest Christian religion (Jehovah's Witness... you may all react with cries of "poor queer" now), it was always touching and amazing to see how her friends from the Kingdom Hall would bring over dinner after one of her operations or stop by or call her to bring her spirits up. It had (and continues to have) an effect.
There are a few people
stargazen bramat78 zatty76 and others who called and even when I was too ill to talk, it had the effect of making me feel wanted. I couldn’t wait to feel better so I did feel better. So I want to thank those people who took a few moments and did that for me. I'll be doing this in my own way soon. But I want to let them know that their actions mattered to me.
Free of stress, free of stress. Thank God, Almighty. I am free of stress.
Finally, cause to celebrate.
kubrickfan and
mickymse have set a date for their Big Fat Jewish/Catholic Union Ceremony. I cannot wait. I will be planning my life around that event. Going to the hospital? Not on their wedding day. Meeting the President? Not on that date. Nominated for an Oscar… well… I will give you two a shout out from the stage when I win but I’ll leave immediately afterwards to join you. Promise.
