The "hot sign" is a beacon to end hunger

For my Texas cultural assignment in my government class, I was required to bring in a food item that the culture I was assigned is known for making, and serve it to the class. My culture was the Polish people of Texas, so I drove over to Krispy Kreme and purchased two dozen glazed doughnuts.

In all seriousness though, Polish people love doughnuts. They were the first to use jelly inside them. Doughnuts are very popular in Poland and traditionally eaten on Shrove Tuesday; at midnight on St. Sylvester's Day (New Year's Eve) and also at Epiphany (January 6th) when a coin is normally hidden in one of them.

So, I guess I pretty much hit the nail on the head. Except the doughnuts I brought were classic Krispy Kreme glazed ones, not jelly filled. Nonetheless, they were devoured in the blink of an eye.

And the people rejoiced.
