At Purchase, if you want something done you do it yourself. I have been here so long now that I am craving new ideas and teachers, and a different atmosphere. I had a lot of success dancing this summer and I was offered the chance to take Mark Morris' and Merce Cunningham's class. I wrote a letter to the board of study at my school to ask if I'd be approved to take some classes in the city a few times a month and they approved me. So, I am going to feed my brain some new cuisine. Hopefully it's delicious!
I think I need to mix up my life right now because I feel like I am atrophying. Here's my list of things to help me stay new and fresh. They're just possibilities.
Read some non-fiction
Start seeing movies again
Take a philosophy class
Start writing some of my own stuff
Yoga
Teaching in some capacity
Refresher math or science class
I wish I had some time to take a real academic class. I'd love to learn a new language or improve my French. I guess it will all happen in good time. Then again, when do I ever have time?
Lastly, after many trials, I got my new cheap-as-they-come webcam to work. This enabled me to have a two hour conversation replete with audio and video with Connor. It was really nice to just catch up a bit. It made me wish I was back in Europe, though. All I want is a week of that refreshing, laid back attitude. Maybe I'll get a bit of it in California this spring!
Things to look forward to: Working out my visa and SSN
A relaxing weekend
