Burning Down The House

Today was mostly interesting for one specific thing, which I've not written about before (I think). The housing company has been thinking about renovating the group of buildings in which I live for a while now. This started about one year ago, and is now slowly on it's way to become a reality. The basic idea is that first they'll tear the houses

Won't the housing comp. be compelled to assist you in finding a new living space for the time being? They would be my first stop, actually.

Yeah, they help you in the sense that you're granted a special status which makes it easier to make the cut (woonduur wordt verhoogd) and you've got a bit more rights in accepting/not accepting to rent other houses :)

- Yup, it's getting bigger by about 6 square meters ;P
- It'll take about a year before you can come back
- I can stick around, I told them my preference was to live central because of work :P

(I just heard that the majority of the tenants is actually against the plans, so I guess it'll still be a while until it happens for real)

Often when there are renovations the houseing company pays a compensation fee to the tenant. Because hey, you need to redecorate the whole place! I don't know if that's the case for you?
