Lawnmowers do not like water.
The first time we mow the lawn every year, I run into problems with the mower. Last year, it stalled out. This year, I got it stuck in the lawn. I mean really stuck. As in, it was leaving ruts over four inches deep in our attempts to get it free.
How did this come about? It had just rained. Mom had already started mowing the front yard, and it was fine. She turned it over to me, I went to do the front AND back yard, and... Stuck. I forgot that the back yard turns into a bog. There was about half an inch of standing water on the ground, hidden by the leaves. I didn't see it until it had me. The mud back there was like quicksand. We tried for a good hour and a half to get it out, getting ridiculously muddy in the process, but no dice. It's sitting out now, in the torrential rain and thunder, under a tarp. It is a giant blue monument to my ineptitude.
