i don't know enough to be incompetent.

a good week lies ahead. as i'm sure you are all well aware the office premiers thursday at 8:30 on nbc -- watch it!, and on friday i depart for the land of cheese to visit some friends, drink some alcohol and i may even squeeze in a wedding if i have the time. pa is gone until tuesday night, so if i don't kill my brother in the interim, it will be an awesome week.

i've also seen both volumes of kill bill on tv over the weekend. granted the violence is very much stylized and some scenes are almost comical in the extreme amount of blood and removed body parts, but i still was surprised that the films would be on television.

it seems to me that any amount of sex or nudity is edited out of movies for television, a la the scene in braveheart where the scottish army lifts their kilts and show their man parts to taunt the brits, but much more leeway is given to violence. because right after this scene a man who gets a rather large axe embedded in his skull was not taken out of the movie.

it also seems to me like i've written something about this before, maybe not even long ago, and used the braveheart example. if that's so, tough titties, read it again.

edit: so i'm really excited about clint eastwood's new movie, flag of our fathers, based on the book by james bradley. i'm a huge fan of clint the director, so even though the cast of this movie, well, it sucks, it didn't hamper my enthusiasm. and now that i've seen the trailer, while i'm not overly convinced, it at least appears that the movie won't suck.
