my first issue of horizons (the magazine for alumni and friends of northern michigan university) arrived in the mail today. joy! that free year of the alumni association is paying off already. it was all about reading, so that's a bonus. and, most importantly, my good friend
lexicos is featured in a picture; here's hoping the fame doesn't go to her head. i once heard her yell at some poor kid who asked a favor of her, "do you know who i am?!?" scary.
another sad realization came to me today on my way to the mailbox -- i don't have my summer feet yet. i'm no fan of shoes. during the summer months i like to hillbilly it up and walk around barefoot. over the course of a few weeks the feet toughen up and grow a shoe of their own. both freeing and economical. it's now my mission to have my leather-bottom feet up and running by the fourth. get to steppin'!
my hair is really short again. by accident this time. i was trimming the ole mop and shortened the blade to get around the ears. then i noticed that i missed a bit a few inches above my ear and went to town . . . a nice little racing stripe right down the side. so it's all gone again. but i get to save on shampoo. both aerodynamic and economical.
another friend commented in her journal the other day about how the next milestone age-wise is 25 - the full-blown adult, then 30 - the beginning of 'old.' and while i don't really care about age (it ain't nothin' but a number, after all), i do care about being out of shape. being out of shape at 25 means i'm out of shape at 30 and 50 and 75 and when i die. and instead of being out of shape and having health problems for the next 55 years, i'm going to really focus on getting back into shape. good shape. less round anyway. i still have 6 months to 25, plenty of time to not work out then overdose on trimspa. both time-saving and anna nicole smith-like.
