it's taken me longer to finish up the kite runner than i originally expected. mainly because the child protagonist graduated from being a bastard to a full-fledged fucker. i scoffed at his sorrows, though now he's slightly redeeming himself. in related and equally exciting news, rumor has it a film version is scheduled for release next year. mr. american beauty, sam mendes, is scheduled to direct. i love me a good literary adaptation.
i was telling some good friends about this commercial last week. the one for labatt blue with the two guys sitting at a bar singing along to loverboy's "turn me loose." if you haven't seen it, you can check it out at the labatt website (labattblue.com; i couldn't get the link to work, unfortunately, so you'll have to work to see it). you have to enter your birthdate to see it, or any date that will make you over 21 i guess. you'll want to take "the beer" link, then "tv spots;" it's the one called "song." this thing cracks my shit up every time. love it.
in even more exciting, yet unrelated news,
the adventures of pete and pete is available on dvd. since amazon doesn't pay me to link to their site, i'll take you to buy.com this time (it's cheaper there, too, if you're in the market). i really liked this show as a kid; i don't know if the humor holds up, but it was genius when i was 11.
