September Arriveth

B, here--

Well, as I'm sure your calendars have told you all, September is upon us. I always liked to think of September as a transition month. Summer vacation officially ends and it's back to school. It's a sad at first, saying goodbye to all the summer memories, but let's face it: who doesn't love the drama that school brings? I know I could never wait to see all my friends at school and to wait and see what new adventures the year brought for us. And in university, it was more of the same, except I was also happy to be taking the courses I signed up for (most of the time). The excitement of learning and mingling helped heal my back-to-school-blues.

The days get colder and shorter, and soon the leaves start falling off the trees. For all you big city people, the smog also does that neat fall thing where it changes hues. It would be beautiful, except, you know, pollution... not hot. The coldness brings in new fall fashions, and before you know it, scarves and gloves are back in. Looking forward to seeing what you'll all be wearing in the fall this year.

Mood wise, things mellow down. The last four months of the year are typically slower, until they climax in a consumer-frenzy-fueled eruption of money and mayhem in our great month of December... but why worry about tomorrow's woes today? September has been chill for me, most of the time. I spend less time outside in the sun, and more time inside enjoying books, television and the company of friends and family. Traffic tends to get a LITTLE more smooth as Septemeber develops. At first, with all the back-to-school chaos, it's madness on the roads, but it subsides as we all ease into the routine of life after summer. It gets peaceful and before you know it, gobble-gobble we're scarfing down turkeys and potatoes like the pilgrims and the natives. It's all fun and games until one race tries to kill another, so let's keep that in mind while we maintain the peace.

Finally, we welcome the season premieres (and sometimes series premieres) of our most beloved shows. I always looked forward to season finales. Last year I caught the beginning of Heroes Season 2. I ALWAYS made time for Friends. This year, I'm sad to say I missed GG, but that doesn't mean I have to miss Supernatural, possibly Smallville, Heroes and the likes. Even though the days get colder, TV heats up. We'll see what this season's new batch of shows bring: anyone else really curious (bad, I know) about the new 90210? Can't kill a boy for being curious.

So, it's farewell flipflops and beach towels (and crocs, but they're never acceptable) and hello scarves and season premieres.

Till we meet again.

B
