After many months

I have finally watched the last movie on 'Miranda's List of Films To See Before You Die'. And I made it, before I died obviously. I finished it all of with 'Life is Beautiful', probably the best movie I could have finished with. I have owned if for a couple of months, but lent it out. I have finally had time to watch it, and it was phenomenal.

Movies on the list were: Being John Malkovich, Casablanca, Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Heavenly Creatures, The Hours, It's A Wonderful Life, Life is Beautiful, Lolita, Lost in Translation, Magnolia, Memento, Monty Python's Life of Brian, Mulholland Drive, The Piano, Pieces of April, The Royal Tenenbaums, Secretary, Six Degrees of Separation and Wit (and only now have I realised that they were arranged in alphabetical order- oh and that the world alphabet is comprised of the first two letters in the Greek alphabet).

I guess I had better start analysing the films- the best and worst.

The Worst: and easy choice: 'The Hours'. I guess the title was appropriate, as it wasted hours of my time. How a movie with such a wonderful cast was so boring, is beyond me. It wasn't even boring in a dramatic way. I felt as though it was made deliberately for people with sleeping disorders. It had a completely soporific effect on me.

The Saddest: It would have to be Wit. This movie would also have to be one of my favourites, definitely in the top three. I am now curious to see 'Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows', as it was Judy Davis who beat Emma Thompson for an Emmy. How anyone could possibly top Emma Thompsons performance is beyond me. Death be not proud....

The funniest: Whilst 'Life is Beautiful' was sad, it was by far the most hilarious movie on the list.

Top Three: 'Wit', 'Heavenly Creatures' and 'It's A Wonderful Life'. 'Wit' because it was an emotional rollercoaster, and it does not end happily (I love a tragic movie). 'Heavenly Creatures' was the movie which surprised me the most, both by the acting and the story. 'It's A Wonderful Life' brought me the closest to tears, but was an all-round perfect movie.

The Best: It was hard to decide, but I think that 'It's A Wonderful Life' was the best movie on the list. I must admit that I was reluctant to watch it. But, like a lot of the movies on the list, it surprised me by being completely brilliant.

And in order from best to worst:

It's a Wonderful Life, Wit, Heavenly Creatures, Life is Beautiful, Lost in Translation, Casablanca, Memento, Pieces of April, Lolita, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Piano, Magnolia, Monty Python's Life of Brian, Six Degrees of Separation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Donnie Darko, Secretary, Mulholland Drive, Being John Malkovich, The Hours
