Birthday wishes!
Thanks to everyone who sent birthday greetings or called me this weekend! It was very thoughtful of all of you, I appreciate it. :)
I am thirty one years old. Blake and I have now been together for over half our lives. Wow.
Since I had already kind of celebrated a joint birthday at Six Flags earlier this month, my actual birthday was pretty low-key. Just spent the weekend walking around town shopping and enjoying the weather. Found some neat book shops that we hadn't had a chance to go to before, and tried some Chicago Vietnamese food for the first time. And some bubble tea! Mmmmmm.
In other news, at work I've just been assigned project manager of this small school evaluation, which is the first time I've been given the responsibility for all the big decisions like budgeting, staffing, timeline, etc. It's not an actual promotion just a recognition that I am capable of taking care of these managerial tasks, so that's pretty cool.
Still loving Chicago, there were a few hot days, but it's much better now and overall we're doing far better than the rest of the country. I am looking forward to more festivals and events this summer and I'm glad we're finally able to spend some time outdoors this year. I'll see if I can convince Blake and our friends to go on a hike at some point. It's a little hard to get anywhere outside of the city without a car, so hopefully we'll be able to find one that we like soon!
