Bye bye car

Our car has been holding onto life with the tip of its fingers for awhile now, and it finally died this afternoon coming back from shopping in the 'burbs. It was pouring down rain, and it died on the OFF RAMP TO OUR STREET which sucked, but it was good that we were pretty close and didn't stall in the middle of nowhere. Once the tow guy got there, we decided to just have him drop us at our place and then take it to a junk yard. It was cool because he was talking about how his junk yard is one of the top in the area and is all EPA approved so everything would be disposed of properly.

It was a green '96 Nissan Sentra, and was by far the car that we've had the longest. All the other ones were junkers as well and would last a year or two before dying on us. It served us well, but we already had started looking ahead into getting a new car soon. With Blake working at cars.com, he's got access to listings and ways to check up on cars, so I'm sure we'll get something good. Also we have enough money to get a really good deal, so that's not a worry at all.

We really only used the car to go to the grocery store and shopping on the outskirts of Chicago. Pretty much everything else is easily accessible by bus or train, and for the meantime we can use something like Zipcar if we really need a car to haul stuff back to the house. I'm actually pretty excited to get a new car that doesn't have bullet holes in it and has more safety features. I wonder if we'll end up getting something black like everyone else on here who's been getting new cars. ;)

car, blah
