A lesson in being Swiss

Just had a snippet to translate (for the refugees and asylum dept. of the region... not sure how they got it but... well).
It's just so... so... SWISSIt sure makes a change from other stuff I've been doing too. In fact it's humbling and entertaining at the same time. I suppose it's needed in English to remind all the wicked, nasty foreigners of ( Read more... )

Gives a whole new meaning to the idea of 'stuff it', right? *g*

Heh heh heh. Sicko. (And I mean that in the most respectful and affectionate way.)

I figured you'd catch the slip, but I couldn't help myself ;-) Just hard to get out of the editorial habit, I guess.

We're rather lucky here -- the local council decided that convenience was the better part of valour, so they gave everyone green (recycled) plastic crates. Paper goes into plastic bags, cardboard gets tied in bundles, and pretty much everything else gets dropped clean-but-unsorted into the crates, for weekly pickup. It's a far cry from the earlier recycling scheme, which was central but not exactly convenient ... But I used to pile everything into my motorbike-pack semi-regularly, and vroom it down to the recycling centre, feeling very virtuous. And before that, of course, we had the same sort of trek-around-town system, which didn't get that much use because it was just too much like hard work.

I do envy you, though, getting to play with the can-crushing toy. Cool fun.

It probably is the 'damn ferriners' who cause problems for recycling schemes, you know. I'm sure I wouldn't get it right, for the first few months! Especially without a handy-dandy English translation of the regulations to refer to. (Hah! Take that, preposition police!)

You can take pride in haveing Done Your Bit to make the world a more recycled place. *g*
