Silliness...

Work day. Bleh. How to transform hot air into sensible prose, in fact. Not sure if I've succeeded, to be honest.

However, I've posted another short Professionals piece to my website, Christmas Spirit

It's light, silly, very short, and includes references to elves, James T. Kirk and the Salvation Army (don't ask but where would Pros fiction be without elves at Christmas?). Written in the middle of a very, very dark piece and while ripping my novel to pieces yet again. AND backed up before the Big Bang of my dear, departed laptop.

Oh, and I know what I want for Christmas, and it ain't a new laptop. It isn't even peace and goodwill on earth. It's to have two weeks of my Mum being here without a single reference to: housework (not up to standard), cooking (likewise), parenting skills (likewise) and Being a Good Wife (aaarghhhhh). And time to write a little, read a little, and have peace and goodwill in my own little corner of the universe.

I am, and I'll say it without false modesty: a reasonable cook, a lazy but functionally acceptable housekeeper, a tolerant mother and a faithful wife. It's just that I'd really rather have some time to write over Christmas than pay lip service to a festive season that I really don't believe in. But hey, nothing's perfect.

Am now going to whip up a gastronomic marvel in the newly-cleaned kitchen (OK, so I'm still afraid of my Mum), take the laundry out of the machine, and have a Meaningful Conversation with wannabe Goth daughter. Just call me selfless *g*.

"But Mum, I like writing. And a little dirt is healthy. And she only wears some tacky Celtic jewellery rather than goes for the whole Vampire stuff. And husband is not exactly down to his last shirt and wasting away...."

Hehehehehe.
