The long weekend continues - we still had a day off today so I went to see Pride and Prejudice with Anna Maija. For me, the BBC series will always be the one true P & P, and Colin Firth the one true Darcy, but this version was not bad at all. I have to say that I adore the Colin/Darcy, but
I grew up on the EARLIER BBC "P&P" with David
Rintoul as THE most somberly sexy Darcy ever.
I don't think he was capable of cracking a smile,
but he was a tall dish in a cravat!

What we got as a final shot: Mr Bennet giggling in his study, after both Darcy and Lizzy have been in to see him.
What the Americans will get (apparently; this is from some people who have been to pre-screenings):
"They are at Pemberley after the wedding. It's night, with lights (candles, torches?) around. Then Darcy kneels down, knee to knee facing Lizzy. Lizzy tells Darcy teasingly not to call her my dear, since that's what Mr. Bennet calls Mrs. Bennet when he's cross. She tells him he can call her goddess of love(? not sure what kind of goddess it was) on sundays and he laughs. Then he asks what he should call her when 'he' is cross, Mrs. Darcy? Lizzy replies that name is reserved for the time when he's perfectly, blissfully happy. Then he starts calling her Mrs. Darcy, then kisses her forehead, then says Mrs. Darcy and kisses her eye, and calls her Mrs. Darcy again, and kisses her cheek, and ( ... )
