My beloved iPod is on the fritz.
Granted, it IS older than the hills (one of the first models sold). I put some songs on it last night, and then left it on the charger. It wouldn't boot up into the iPod menu thingie. It would get so far and then crap out, reboot and then the process started over.
After attempting to load a newer version of the firmware, it won't turn on at all.
De fargin bastiges!
I've been online, and it seem that this is a common problem. The consensus on fixing it seems to be to let it sit for 24 hours without screwing with it, doing a rain dance, and sacrificing a stewing hen to a pot of garlic and onion laced red wine. (Mmmm... Coq Au Vin)
Of course, liberal self-medicating on the remainder of the wine is involved.
Then, after the self-induced iPod hiatus is completed, plug it in, reset the bastard and go on your merry way.
Of course the other possible outcome is that the bastard is shot and I should sell it for parts on eBay.

I went up to Presque Isle today. I fixed the backup. It took me all of ten minutes. [Sticks thumbs in ears, wiggles fingers, raspberries lady who tried to fix it]
I had several other things on my magical "List of Stuff for Brendan to do when he's here", and chatted with just about everyone more than I should have.
I installed 2 more hard drives in their server, too. they now have a ginormous (for that server, anyway) 114GB drive that is mirrored. Mirroring is cool because if they lose one of those two drives, they've still got their stuff.
