So.
Title check on the house came back.
There's a lein for $740 on there for attorney's fees for the home owners' association, that apparently I am responsible for. [raises eyebrow]
And now, I have the entirety of the real estate world in Tampa in a tizzy because I'm contemplating saying "fuck it" to the whole goddamned thing. (It wasn't amusing at the time, but it kind of is now that I've had about four hours to calm down a bit.)
So, after I got off of the phone with Ruth, I called my dad, and he said, "That's bullshit" and my mom, who used to work for a builder who used to build subdivisions like the one I'm thinking about not buying into now told me to get ahold of the HOA Bylaws.
Not thirty seconds after I got off of the phone with them, I get a call from Marc, the mortgage guy, who acted a little freaked out that I may be deciding to pull out of the deal.
Luckily, I know myself well enough that I pulled the reigns in and didn't tell anyone to pound sand up their asses.
Anyway, Ruth is going to get me a copy of the HOA Bylaws tonight, and then I'll read them... I'm tempted to tell the HOA that they can pay their own lawyer's fees or they can let me ride for two or three years. I'm also tempted to pull the plug.
