Wilson takes a deep breath before opening the door. He stops in his tracks on his way to the living room, and tries to listen for any sound that would mean that Julie was still awake. He had missed another dinner that she had prepared. She even told him that morning that she would be making a special meal, so she wished he would get there on time. Unfortunately something had come up before he left the Hospital, and a patient needed him. He knew he should have called, but the thought slipped his mind. So now he was 5 hours late for the dinner, and trying desperately not to make a sound as he sneaked into the bedroom.

The kitchen light flickered on to the left of him. He slowly turns around to face Julie. She has her robe tightened around her waist, and her arms crossed. She wasn't happy.

"Nice of you to finally get here James. What's your reason now?"

He steps closes to her and checks his voice before speaking. "I - Something came up at the Hospital with a patient and I had stay longer. I'm sorry I didn't call."

"You're sorry? Well James I'm sorry too. I don't think I can deal with this anymore. I've tried, and I've tried again, and I'm sick of it. I hate having to compete all the time. I hate that I have to ask you to get home on time because I wanted to make something special for you. You know, I felt so stupid sitting down at the table thinking you'd be coming in any second. I don't know what I was thinking. Obviously I thought you would care enough just this one time to put me first."

"I'm sorry Julie but the Hospital is my job. I have too many responsibilities there. I just can't leave it."

"What about me? Last time I checked I was your wife. Are there responsibilities to me? Or are they to someone else? Someone you just can't leave alone?" She askes.
She says the last line very accusingly and Wilson wonders what she's getting at.

"No Julie I promise you there is no one else." Wilson almost begs her to understand.

"Really? No one else? What about House?"

"House? House has nothing to do with this," Wilson says. He's beginning to have a headache, and wishes the kitchen light wasn't so strong.

"I can't believe that James.   I'm actually beginning to think that you weren't even with a patient. I'm thinking that you decided to stick around and be with House. Talk, watch some television, do whatever you guys do when you're not here. Maybe you even went to the Hospital's cafeteria and had a little snack before driving home. Either way you weren't here, where you were suppose to be. What were you doing? What were you thinking? I'll tell you. You were thinking that Julie, my wife, didn't matter. She never mattered at all. She never mattered at all anyway, so she should just get used to it."

"That's not what I think Julie, I promise you. I was with a patient and I couldn't leave. I hadn't even seen House today, so I wasn't with him," says Wilson. He walks up to Julie, and takes her hands. "You are very important to me."

Julie looks down, and sighs before speaking again in a quiet voice. "But I will never be more important then House."

She unwraps her hands from Wilson and walks to away. He lets her because he knows the truth, and feels guilty. He wants to get rid of these feelings he has for his friend, but he can't. No matter how much he wants to stay by Julie, no matter how much she asks him to turn away, he can't get rid of them.
