#PotterShare Disccusion Topics

#PotterShare is a chatroom/guild community on the site DeviantArt. In the chatroom there are often discussion topics that come up. Below are the ones I responded to.

Peter:
I thought that from the information we are given was that Peter was part of the Maradurs but was also a loner. He is not described very nicely when someone talks about what he was like at Hogwarts. I admit that what he is now is not right and shouldn't be the result of something so small as being left at sometimes, but still it's damaging. James and Sirius were the main people getting attention and Peter seemed to be the one just laughing in up on the side hoping to get some light also. Remus is a differnt case. Overall what I'm saying is that Younger Peter has more sympathy from me because of the James and Sirius being big stars, and Peter being left out. Younger Peter seemed just as horrible of course but that's just what I think.

Discuss: The dementors are clearly on Voldemort's side, but will Hagrid and Lupin be able to convert the giants and the werewolves, and will the house elves and centaurs join the fight?

(Hopefully all my facts are right and I make some since. I haven't read the books in awhile and I forget some parts so please excuse my mistakes)

We know this: Hagrid is a half Giant. Lupin is a werewolf turned at age 6. They are both on the side of good.

-Although many would think that magically creatures aren't needed to help in the fight that isn't true. There are just as much as them as there are magical humans, so it's important to have their aid.
Sadly Voldemort has the dementors so that makes him a force to be reckoned with.
Hagrid is a half-giant and although that is definitely good thing for recruiting it might not work. I worry that the Giants might be prejudice against Half-giants because of their relationship with magical people.
The same goes with Werewolves. I may not have all the facts but I think that to become a werewolf you have to be turned or born. Although Remus was turned into a werewolf by non other then Fenir that doesn't mean that he's already into the group.
There are going to be prejudices against the to that are going to be hard to get around to. Plus giants and werewolves are already seen as dark creatures, that many think have already join Voldemorts side. It makes since to join the evil side if the other treats you bad and already aspects the worse from you.
So my answer to that is that maybe they can, but it will take a lot on convincing, especially now that Dumbledore is gone.
-I sadly admit that I've never really thought of the house elves fighting all that much. But now that I think of it they would be very useful. Even though house elves are used for labor we know that they have their on branch of magic. It looks to be very strong too.
There are a lot of House Elves at Hogwarts, but there are also House elves with families. When I think of House elves I think of rich families. Usually only rich families have servants. I think that the only families that have house families are old wizarding families. My point is that there might be a lot of House elves that are working for dark families like the Malfoys. There are 3 examples of House Elves that I can remember. Dobby, Winky and Kretcher. I think that there are more house elves like Winky then the other two. From that guess I think that they'd be dedicated to help out, but maybe not reliable in fighting.
-We know that the centars try not to get into the business of magical people. I'm not sure of what their status is now on the war but they seem to be on the good side. Would they be willing to fight or get involved at all?
-Overall I think that there is a both a possibility for it to happen and not happen. The magical creatures are often put down, and though I'm sure they don't want to be taken over by Voldemore also, it doesn't seem like they'd be in much trouble. What is Voldemore promising them? Freedom? I doubt that they'd be granted it anyway. Voldemort has promised the death eaters souls, and they benefit from that, but what about the others. The decision is a tough one.

I came up with this one myself:
I was reading a fanfic just the other day and it had a quote. "no great genius has ever existed without a touch of madness"
While Hermione is talking to McGonagall she says that that quote can apply to Dumbledor and also Voldemort. McGonagall has a tiny fit about Hermione even mentioning this. But it got me thinking...
Even though Voldemort is evil, he is obviously smart. He just uses his intelligence for world domination. And even though Dumbledore is good he is kind of crazy. He smiles at odd times, talkes in riddles, and gave that weird speech in Harry's first year.
He could have been joking, that's true but it still makes me wonder. Another point about Dumbledor is his true role in the war. In a couple of fanfiction I've read, they've had Dumbledore being a kind of manipulator. It might have been Dumbledore bashing but I'm not sure. Either way it seems that AD does keep people on string. I'm not saying that Dumbledor is evil, that would make no since at all, I'm just saying that there are always different sides to people.
