So, I've been reading, and occasionally writing fic for ages, but I've never made a rec list. Not because I don't have anything to rec, but because I'm such a lazy ass. Anyway, I decided it was finally time.
My Favorite Pairings: Bastian Schweinsteiger/Lukas Poldolski, Bastian Schweinsteiger/Mario Gomez, Steven Gerrard/Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres/Sergio Ramos, Sergio Ramos/Iker Casillas, Iker Casillas/David Beckham, Iker Casillas/Cesc Fabregas, Cesc Fabregas/Gerard Pique, Christiano Ronaldo/Kaka etc.
My Opinion/Experience: I'm relativly new to the football fandom. I started reading a bit after the world cup, and haven't stopped since. I have honestly never found such a well written fandom as this one. Almost everything I read is better than I could ever hope to be, and there are so many exceptional authors in this fandom, it's ridiculous.
Author!Rec: melungeoned
Why: There is no excuse for not reading any of her fics if your in the footie fandom. If it wasn't fan fiction, I could see most of her fics being New York Time's bestsellers. The way she crafts a story, characters, and plots, continues to amaze me every time I read one of her fics. Everything on her journal is worth reading, whether or not you like the paring.
Pairings: from her journal "I don't really write random pairings. I have my few staple boys (Iker and Sergio and Nando and David [Beckham] and Raúl and Guti), and that's pretty much it. If I've written anything else, it's from some sort of divine inspiration or something, haha. Basically don't expect much outside of those six. :)"
Favorite Fic/Series: If I was being forced to pick on, I would say Truth Or Dare, because it's a finished series and I could read it over and over again (I've read it twice actually.)

Why: Another author you have no excuse to not be reading. Her imagery and characterization is exceptional, and her work speaks for itself.

Favorite Fic: Do Not Go Gentle (Into That Good Night), also, Knights of Cydonia is the series that she's currently working on, and you should read it asap.
Excerpt: "Across the railing, dipped down and spread out for miles surrounding an iron core home, submerged in white and red paint with letters scrawled across the side, blue stretches beyond the edges grasped by imagination. It’s a cold, metallic blue with white foam frothing between waves that crest in eerie synchronization, like a metronome waiting for the next beat. Under sheaths of blue, there is life, but mostly there is blue and it is as he stares down, past the surface that he can feel the roiling spread up from his toes. It starts there, near the ends and then rolls up, like washing waves, makes his knees weak and he holds onto the sailing harshly, knuckles white from effort. The rolling of the ship is consistent enough that he can feel it in his spine, even when he closes his eyes and his body presses harshly against the metal railing."

There are so many fics in this fandom that I have loved ridiculous amounts and havent been able to find to rec them. These are mostly the ones I've favorited or are in my instapaper archives. I'll eventually go on a fic finding adventure and post them all here. I promise.

My Opinion/Experience: This movie is one of my favorites, as is the fandom. I still cannot believe how strong the Kink meme is after all of this time.
Shelter A/J, R, alexthegreat prompted on the kinkmeme: Some sort of AU vaguely based on Shelter! For whatever reason, Jesse has to take care of Hallie and give up his dream of being an actor. He ends up working in a dead end job when former, now successful friend (Andrew) returns home. They fall in love, etc, only Jesse can't go away with him because he has a responsibility to his family. CUE ANGST.
