So I was talkin with someone about what I want to teach and I thought I had decided about math, but then we got talking about cool science stuff and it was fun. It got me thinking. Do I want to teach science or math? I love science, but I wasn't sure if I was strong enough in the subject to pass the tests. I mean, I watch Discovery, Animal ( Read more... )

Go for Science! I think it will be more interesting and possibly easier to teach if your doing highschool.

Like you said though, math does have its benefits. But I'm biased, when I was a kid I thought science teacher was the coolest job. Besides if your ever ill, you can always do the half assed approach they did in my school... Roll in a TV/VCR stand and play 2 episodes of "Beakman's world" in a row.

Yea, I have pretty much decided that is what I am going to do. Science is the bomb diggity. I know what Beakman's World is, but I don't think I have ever seen it. I always watched Bill Nye. :)

I think Beakmans world was probably more random/less educational than Bill Nye. I remember Bill Nye would have an actual flow/theme to episodes with a lot more facts. Hey did you know Bill Nye also did stand up? He once jokingly heckled Jerry Seinfeld at a club (from the side lines, he was up next I think) - Jerry did his black box joke "if the black box is so indestructible, why don't they just make the whole plane out of that stuff!" So bill shouts something like "uhhh -- because then it would be way too heavy to fly in the first place."

I envy his career actually: scientist, comedian, actor...

Did you ever watch Square1 on PBS?

Oh man, I think I did! Is that the one where the little thing went around saying "Mathman Mathman Mathman" and Mr. Glitch tried to stop him?
