hmo's, secured for life/ secured for death

i believe that health insurance can be a good thing, you can get medical treatment for most health issues from the common cold to life threatening std's. but the moment that you develope some sort of life threatening abnormality, they will sit back an reasses the value of having you as a customer. this isn't what they would call it, of coure now that wouldn't be politicly correct, they view it as more weighing the cost of the surgery with the potential of you living afterwards. now they don't just look at the odds of you surviving the surgery, they will actually sit down and calcuate how much longer after the surgery you could be around for. is this what we have become as human being (points to self feeling a little furry, but thats beside the point), summing up the value of a persons life to nothing more the statistics on a peice of paper that some medical veteran who hasn't touched a scalpel for years to look at and say yay or nay. no no, that is just wrong, i believe that there should be at least a picture of the potential patient attached, so they can get one last good look at the person they are about to murder. i'm sorry if that is coming off to harsh, but when you look at it that's what it boils down to, a death sentenance.
i don't know about you, but if i suddenly developed some sort of heart abnormallity, i'm not going to want to hear the following " i'm sorry sir, but you don't qualify for the operation. you have 6 months to live. here's a pain killer, and believe me you are going to want to be using plenty of it." at lest people on death row have the chance of hearing from the governor or their time extended before they're put to death instead of, your going to die in 6 months, and if your not by then you're going to wish you were. i wish people would just for once sit back and bring a little bit of humanity back into treating patience, instead of viewing them as symptoms with wallets that need to be surgicly removed. if i really tried to, i could carry this subject on forever or unil my pc crapped out, just like doctors sitting on a life making/breaking decision until after it is too late to do anything helpfull so they don't have to perform the surgery after all. peace for now.
