Well, I had my second day of school today. My classes seem fine. I mean, I could wish for better, but one can always wish for better. They'll do.
For those of you who know who Wendy is, her older sister Pearl is in my biology class. (For those of you who don't know Wendy, she's a friend of mine from high school. For those of you who also know Pearl, congratulations, you're ahead). Pearl and I get along fine, so that's nice: I have someone to talk to in class, partner up with in lab, etc. My teacher's fine, too. The only complaint I have about him at all so far, is that he kinda slurs his words a little, and while it doesn't make him -hard- to understand, it does make it a little... frustrating, or boring, or something to listen. But seriously, if that's my only complaint, not bad at all. Lab's nifty, too. Today we raced snails on a varity of surfaces! :D
Math is really what's annoying me. The teacher doesn't speak proper English, and even if she did her explanations still would make no sense. It doesn't help either that half the people in the class don't seem to actually be ready for it -- we're doing basic review, and they're completely lost. It's pretty frustrating. At least I can learn pretty well from the book -- it's just so irritating to have to sit there and listen to all the bullshit... It almost makes me want to be a math teacher, just so there'll be one out there who explains things straightforwardly, and with answers actually matched to the questions asked and no more. >< Guh!
Aaanyway, after a very annoying class, just wanting to get home and rest, I discovered (dun dun dun!) that I had left my lights on -- for the first time ever -- and my car battery was dead! So I had to wait in my freezing car for my dad to come and jump it, except that it didn't work. Sooo we called AAA (who I have insurance from), and they sent out a tow truck to jump it, and if that didn't work, tow it home for me. (It was about 9:45pm by this time, mind you.) Well, the guy managed to get it to start, but said that the battery really was just too old to keep a charge, and probably wouldn't start up again after I'd turned off the car. As it turned out, it didn't even last 'til I got home. My car died... in the middle of the Van Nuys/Burbank intersection (which is a big one, for those not from LA). Now it's parked along Van Nuys -- luckly there's like ONE parking space along the street there. Tomorrow morning I'll have to call AAA again, and they'll come and replace the battery. But... GUH! [insert a varity of not-very-well-supressed frusrated yells, screams, and grumbles here].
And you know, my parents were just have a big stress over bills a couple days ago, when boom! Lucy has some sort of life-threatening problem with her pancreas and has to spend several nights at the vet on an IV, boom! Zoe has to buy books and pay for her classes, and boom! have to buy a new car battery. I know there were a couple other things, too, but I can't remember them right now. Haha. Ha... And of course being jobless, it's not like I can help pay for any of it. I can't even pay for my own gas.
