Yesterday, when trying to remove some old programs from my hard drive, they took along my sound card driver program. It was really odd, and I can only guess such a thing happened because of the plug-ins I had that allowed me to use the mic, as well as sound to share in voice-chat as well as music my friends and I would be currently listening to on our systems. Needless to say, this would pretty easily torqued me off typically; but it was even easier this time, since the reason I was removing the old programs (aside from the fact that I just didn't use them any more) was to have some extra space to be able to install software for being able to do DJing on Second Life.

Anyone who knows me realizes I can't really go without music for long, it's a part of me, it helps me remain focused and at ease. It surrounds my senses in a way that no ordinary background hums or other sounds can. In essence, it is my security blanket; and like Linus, I've carried around that tatty old blanket even into my adulthood and beyond. So, right now, I'm listening to my little portable am/fm radio to one of the local rock stations that plays stuff from the 50's on up to modern pop, dance and metal, based out of the town of Sedro-Wooley. (For those wondering, that's a town about 40 to 50 miles to the north-north-east of us here.

It's left me with a number of ideas for putting together music programmes that I can set for the times I'm able to DJ on SL, once I get these latest kinks worked out of my system again. So, I can look at this as "my computer is f***ed up, because of a crappy program"; or I can see it as an opportunity to reacquaint myself with more varieties of music, and songs I haven't heard yet, and older songs I've enjoyed but forgotten about. Yeah, I think you know the route I'm going here. It'll be interesting to see how many more mp3s I find myself adding to the 90,130+ I already have.

Now, it's time to re-locate the disc of driver programs I've seen floating around the office not too long ago.
