I was asked if I knew any foreign languages. I wanted to say, "Well, since I'm not of this world, Galactic Standard - or English, as you call it - is foreign to me." I didn't however, luckily. The fellow who was asking turned out to be a very self-riotous sort. He persisted in asking me very personal questions, as well, which made me grow less inclined to talk with him as each moment passed. Unfortunately, it was an interview for a job, so I couldn't challenge him to Ushan or one of the other duals.

I found myself almost on the defensive, something I haven't had a feeling of in a very long time. The primary supervisor of the school I went to for the interview seemed nice enough, but as it's a private school in a heavily x-tian atmosphere, I may just have to decline it. I've got to try to get ahold of my Case Manager with WorkSource to see what his advice would be, though. I'm fast running out of time, and options, for a place to work. Still this place would only want to "try me out" for a month or so, to see if I'm what they want as a worker and for me to see if I want to do the job in their ways.

I'm not one to beat around the bush, though I do sometimes hold my tongue when I would rather speak out, but when I was a teen quiet equated to safe. I wasn't that impressed with the way the children were being handled, the layout of the school buildings, or how focused the structure is on particular aspects that will do little for the children in terms of being successful in the real world. I held my tongue about these first impressions though, because the woman who I was first talking to was someone who seemed genuinely "lit up" with enthusiasm for taking on the job. The minister who was finishing the interview, however, seemed the type to want to bull everyone over with what he had decided is the proper course of how things are supposed to go and how people are to act/speak/live. Not a good sign at all, to me.

Still, I need a job, and I need it now.
