I took the week off work to have some time with Duncan for the Easter holidays. It's been a very busy, and a great week.
We had a great Easter weekend with trips to Sherwood Forest, and eggs etc. Much fun was had.
On Tuesday Dessie went back to work while I took Duncan on the train to London. There we met up with The Moores and headed to the Natural History Museum on a mission from S.H.I.E.L.D. The kids had 3 items to find to ensure that Raptor hadn't infiltrated the museum, and they absolutely lapped it up. We kept finding them squirreled away in corners discussing the things they had found and whether or not the enemy had managed to set up a base. There was a general consensus that Raptor had set up a base inside the Blue Whale (which I'd easily believe, as the thing is huge). We went through the dinosaur area too and saw the live T-Rex. It was pretty cool. The only problem though was the fact that it was so crowded. Holiday time and about 2pm by the time we got there so the place was mobbed. It made it very difficult to actually see anything. I'd love to go back another time when it's a little quieter.
After the museum we headed to Kent to stay with the Moores for a few days. The kids were over the moon to have the time together, and they had a great time. There were a few arguments and the odd falling out, as can only be expected, but nothing serious and nothing that lasted more than a few minutes. Duncan isn't used to having kids his own age around, so he took fallings-out a lot more to heart than the other pair did, but he was fine. I went climbing with Alan one evening, and out for dinner with Claire another. We went to Leeds Castle, went swimming, explored Tonbridge Castle and generally had a lovely week.
On Friday, Alan, Duncan and myself headed back to Nottingham, dropped Duncan with Dessie and headed off to the Bards' event to save the world from the Unliving Horde. Consider yourselves saved with panache. Everard presented Tara with a fabulous cake shaped like the symbol of Humact. (Winged Skull)
Today, I brought Duncan and Alan to the Framework Knitters Museum as Alan wanted to see how the machines work. Duncan made himself a scarf. We met up with Dessie in the Red Heart for lunch. I now pronounce myself utterly exhausted.
